I was wondering if it was the snow, now I know.

It seems to load 1/4 page with the latest photo an empty tiny rectangle at the upper right. Then it stops. It seems to hang there until something happens, then advertisements begin to appear and the screen fills half way. It stops again, then the banner ad appears and it continues.

It looks as if it is waiting for the ads to appear, at least in some cases.

The host has identified a few issues with Apache and cpanel so are working on it now. Ron, I think what you saw was a result of the server load spiking just before the crash. I think we might be ok once the host does their thing.

About four minutes ago, I tried just typing www.apug.org and I got a database error. I chose articles from my history and no problem with access. Trying now in another tab. Nothing. Had to back door it to get in here.

I just made a post and it told me that I had not waited 2 seconds since the last search. Now that was odd. Then it returned me to the advanced page and said the post was not successful. I checked, and the post was there.

So...... Strange things are happening!

yeah we got major probs with Apache. We're planning to upgrade the webserver from Apache to "Lightspeed", in the meantime I am having to restart Apache to keep the site running ugh.
