    Minox History

I just came across this video - it is a history of Minox, and I find it very interesting.
If you have any interest in Minox, or other sub-miniature, I'm sure you will enjoy it.

For all practical purposes, they've taken Kodak away.

"Inventor of the legendary spy camera"

Zapp denied being the inventor of a SPY camera, but could not get rid of this designation which he felt insulting.

Most probably Robot cameras were much more used as spy cameras...

I've heard that. My Dad was quite an authority on Minox, and owned and used several. He also had several publicaions about Zapp and Minox. I now have them along with one I had previously, and value them all.

Zapp not only can be proud of designing the Minox, a rather prestigious family of cameras. But also to have reached, at least indirectly, the mass market with the Agfa Agfamatic cameras. A family of cameras nearly all being copies of his Minox design.

Zapp himself about that spy-camera image:

    http://www.minoxclub.de/zapp.mp3

The first officially sold VEF Minox Riga went to a foreign ambassador. And at once I unfortunately understood what that really meant: espionage.
    I was appalled!
I never thought of this devious possibilíty. I did not get over that until today. That it was kept used on that field is the best free advertizing. But the scurviest!

Very cool! If only Minox would send some film over to the USA again!
