Offhand, IDK which Chinese label uses Kodak formulas. Besides, AFAIK the Chinese plant only made color film.

I know where there is a large stash of Tech Pan. I will never tell the true story behind it.

I should have driven up there just to hear the Tech Pan story...

If you're feeling generous perhaps you'll PM me the story

Yes, but it didn't stop nearly every other manufacturing concern. Part of the problem is that a manufacturer can simply close the factory and contract out everything to a jobber in China, they give their employees a couple of weeks or sometimes months salary, and sell off the machinery. Instead of paying an American or Canadian worker $20/hr plus $10 worth of benefits, they pay the Chinese jobber ¥15/hr ( $2.40 at current exchange rates) and no benefits.

No coatings were made in Germany AFAIK (in modern times).

Before the war, Kodak did have a plant in Germany that was nationalized upon the entry of the US into WWII. The US nationalized the Agfa plant here which was Ansco.

    PE you scoundrel!

I know they "Found" a lost roll and that's why it was sold for so long after it was discontinued on the manufacturing end.

But can anyone tell me why, if it was SO popular and SO many people miss it, why Kodak stopped making it in the first place? Wouldn't they recognize a customer need? Seems like they would attract more customers if they made more tech pan, wouldn't have lost them to ilford

How does Tech Pan compare to that Blue Fire film? (I think that's what it's called)

    Or Rollei Technical Pan?
