Kodak Portra

I recently shot a box of 400NC in 8x10 and I got the contacts back yesterday. I'm very impressed with this film, the colours are accurate and neutral, yet opunchy. Sounds like a contradiction doesn't it, but its the best way I can describe it. Normaly I've not a big fan of Kodak negative films in the past, but the new Portra has really impressed me.

These contacts really jump off the page as sharp, smooth, impressive photos. They really make the subject matter look better than it did in person. In the past about the only Kodak film I used was Kodachrome, but now I think I'll be using more Portra.

I use Portra NC for all my wedding work now - I like the Fuji equivilent, but the Kodak just has an edge, mainly in the skin tones.

Craig, Thank you for posting this, i was thinking about buying a box of 400NC 8x10. Really impressed with the new Portras too although in smaller formats so far.
Does anyone know if the 400VC will be made in 8x10?

I don't think so, the 400VC isn't listed as available in sheet film.

I also fell in love with Portra in 8x10. I highly recommend that everyone get a box just for the hell of it (I just got two last week from B&H). It IS expensive but it is delicious. It will knock you out.

Indeed very nice and "for real" looking. Should have a box by Monday and look forward to try it.
Does most labs contact prints on Endura or is that a special job?
I have obviously very little experience with lab work except for the normal proof prints.
