As for Kodachrome, I'm very sad....

Slightly OT, but as the only local photo store that was still doing Kodachrome send-away has stopped (Don's Photo), are there any other Canadian options for this (for coordinating the send-away, I mean, I'm aware it all ultimately goes to Dwayne's)?
Just curious, as I don't shoot a lot of it, but I think I still have a fresh roll around. I checked Dwayne's site, and according to their order form they want to send it back to me via FedEx Priority, which is US$18, plus the US$9 for processing. Ouch. The last time I used the send-away service from here, it was about CDN$15, which while still not cheap is a bit better.
i can't wait to take a picture of my thumb with this beautiful camera.

This news was most definitely not unexpected, all the signs had been in place for quite a long time, and unfortunately some people hoped they we were mis-reading them.
It is the end of an era but there are still plenty of excellent E6 & C41 films around still capable of superb results.

Bruce;
You must remember that ALL existing color process R&D work was done by Kodak. Other companies just use it. That is why there is a price difference. Kodak had to foot the bill for process development.

Ian Yes, the signs were out there, especially if you read some of my posts from a year or so ago.

This is what I have been petitioning for Kodak to do and they have done it. You *have* to see this now, if it were not for the awareness created by online communities like APUG, Photo.net, RFF, the Leica user forums and even the Kodachrome Project, the film was slated to be axed over two years ago and it might have gone that way.
Please....and I do mean please realize what is at hand here, this is history in the making and you can either choose to be a part of it or you can part with it.

I'm very sorry to see Kodachrome go. It is an icon of the Kodak brand, like Tri-X. I use the Portra films, which may be technically superior, but I feel no emotional attachment to them. I wish that Kodak would have waited one more year, to give Kodachrome 75 years. But I don't blame Kodak for discontinuing the film. If anyone is to blame, it is the people who didn't buy enough Kodachrome, and they were entitled to make their choice.
If Kodak discontinues the only 220 black and white film in the world, then I will really be depressed.

PE That's what I said. Where would Fuji be without Kodak doing the R&D heavy lifting?

Just emphasis Bruce. I understood what you were saying, but many people complain about the high costs of Kodak chemistry and etc... They keep overlooking what is obvious to you and me.
