Let's enjoy them while we can? That's *exactly* why I will continue to shoot Kodak. Until the doors shut on my favorite Kodak films, I will continue to enjoy them. Why would I shut the Kodak door before Kodak does?

I am not sure why people are so vehemently against the "Big K". I have been shooting Kodachrome for most of my photographic life, and am very disappointed with the fact that Kodachrome is now relegated to the slide tray of history. However, I'm not going to shoot myself in the foot because of this.
Kodak makes some of my favorite films, and I want to keep using them. I am not going to stop shooting Plus-X, then complain to no end 10 years from now when Kodak discontinues it due to low sales. I am going to keep shooting it until I can't anymore, and not cut off my nose to spite my face

Let's enjoy them while we can. Why do another manufacturer's products have any more likelihood of remaining available than Kodak's? I'd rather stick with a company that announces the discontinuation of products, rather than simply implodes with no warning (e.g. Forte, Maco, Orwo, Sterling)
If Kodak makes a product that suits my work better, I'm going to continue to use it.
Digital Photography is just "why-tech" not "high tech".. -
All things pass and while I'm a little sad this day came just when I was getting film shooting momentum, as already said, at least it wasn't a surprise.
My first exposed roll of Kodachrome is in the fridge, and I have three more to shoot. Going to try to make them count and that's about all there is to be done about it.

Well, Maco is still alive, and the sudden turn of times is not to blame on Orwo, and they stayed in business for quite some time (1994) and even released a new film.

Another day goes under; a little bourbon will take the strain... -

I see, because Kodak is dropping a product line which is not profitable we should boycott all the 2 electron films, Porta, Gold, Ektar, Ektachrome, Plus-X, Tri-X, and all the T-Max films. Lets all run in knee jerk reaction of abandon all film products and destroy all of our analog equipment just to show Kodak that we mean business!
... and just when I thought that the last of the Kodak bashers had finally become mature adults! <sigh>

Warning!! Handling a Hasselblad can be harmful to your financial well being! Nothing beats a great piece of glass! I leave the digital work for the urologists and proctologists. -

just use film, and a lot of it.
not buying or using kodak film
will do nothing but cause them to
stop making everything else.
kodak has been very generous over the years
they are a company that has to make a profit.
it is very expensive to make film, and more expensive
to make it if not enough people use it to cover operating costs.
in the real world, unfortunately, companies have to make a profit
to stay alive... and unfortunately ( again ) even though we are alive
and well here, on this website --- we are a very small drop in the bucket
when it comes to the rest of the world who stopped using as much film
because something else came along ...
i hope they make enough of a profit with the remaining elements
of the "analog suite" so they don't have to discontinue anything else
for a long while ...

Whilst I wish Kodachrome could have carried on, I think we all knew this was inevitable.
What it will probably do is increase the sales of Ektar 100, hopefully giving that film more chance of survival.
With the demise in popularity of the family slide show and the fact that nearly all prints have a digital stage involved, I suppose that logically speaking, Ektar will fill that role better than Kodachrome does now.

I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.
