There is no substitute for it, AFAIAC. It is the best medium speed color neg film made, period, and nothing comes close to its look, IMNSHO (except for Superia 100, which also seems to be gone in 120). All the Fuji Pro and Kodak Portra films are quite different from Reala, and far from "neutral" and "accurate" in my eyes. Fuji Pro S and Kodak NC are "subdued", Fuji Pro C and Kodak VC are "exaggerated", and Reala is right in between, or "normal". Reala is like a color negative version of Provia or EPN. Very straightforward and plain, with very little intentionally introduced "character". As far as I can tell talking to various retailers recently, it is discontinued in manufacture, not just in import. I can't seem to confirm this from Fuji, however. If Fuji proper is not responding, the next step is to find out from your local retailer when the next time their Fuji sales rep. will be in, and come in then and talk to that person.

I sent an email to Fuji UK, they replied in under an hour:
Dear Steven
We have not received any information from Fujifilm Japan regarding the discontinuation of Fujicolor Reala film. Fujifilm UK has good stocks of 35mm and 120 Reala at present.
Kind Regards

There was a rumour elsewhere that Fuji is introducing a Ektar 100 type of film to replace Reala. A film to compete with Kodak's successful film.

Reala 120 is back in stock at B&H Photo, but not at Adorama or Freestyle. I just ordered two pro packs and they've already shipped.

I was wondering about that...I ordered a roll to try out. The price was really good too.

I completely agree with this analysis I.M.O. Fuji Reala is the best general purpose colour negative I've ever used in more than fifty years in photography, the 120 film is readily available in the U.K , but I understand the 135 stuff is no longer imported by Fuji U.K because I understand they say they don't sell enough of it to justify importing it but there is still some about on the market so I've stashed loads of it in my film freezer.

I remain bitter that reala isn't available in larger formats. Fuji-san, why?!

I think an official notice of Reala's discontinuance will appear on Fuji's website in a month or so. Nationalphoto, which is a photo retailer for pros in Japan, put a notice of Reala's discontinuance last week on their website, saying that they were informed from Fuji of the discontinuance. This kind of information from Nationalphoto has always been very accurate and it usually comes well before Fuji releases an official one. According to the notice, Reala in 135 format will be out of stock in around April, and so will be 120/220 in around September.

Very sad....

@Luno: Fuji suggests "FUJICOLOR-S 100" as a replacement. What is this film?
