    Fuji Reala

To the greatest film users on earth I submit: I haven't been able to find my favorite color film, Fuji Reala, in 120 from the large clearance houses of late. Anyone know where I can find it? Or is there a similar film in the Fuji line-up I should be aware of? I started using Reala in 1988 when it was introduce and I love the whites and the fine grain. Thank you for your kind response.

I consider Reala to be the mass market version of their pro line 160NPC, of the line 160S, 160C,800NHGII film offering.

But I may be out of date on that name as well, because I also have some 160C in 35mm That line's haming is 160S, 160C, 400H and 800Z. S is the low saturation - read portraits oriented film, C is punchier (contrastier)

Don't be put off by the 160ISO rating; it does not look any worse for grain than 100 in the consuner grade line to me.

If Fuji has changed the naming of thier line agian, I have not kept up. Most of my stash expired a few years ago, but once popped out of the deep freeze, they keep working fine for me.

    Good hunting.
    my real name, imagine that.

do a search on here for "reala" - there have been several threads over the last couple of months about availability. I know it is orderable from the UK at not too great a cost.

I use both these films extensively mike and Reala is nothing like the Pro 160S or 160 C.

I just received 10 rolls of Fuji Reala in 120 from:

    http://www.fujilab.co.uk

The price with shipping worked out to about $5 a roll if I recall correctly. I put my 10 rolls in the freezer and will use them sparingly, as Reala in 120 has been discontinued by Fuji. Reala in 35mm has been removed from Fuji's USA website so I don't expect it to be available much longer either.

I've not seen any notice of official discontinuance at all. The recent Fuji announcement cuts Reala 35mm 24exp and five packs, and 120 single packs.

The document shows that 35mm, 36exp is in production, as is 120 in 5-packs, it also looks like 220 is still being produced.

Rumours spread fast online. We may be confusing Reala no longer being imported to the US for global discontinuance.

$5 a roll isn't too bad shipped to the USA, I buy my film from Fuji UK and their prices are very reasonable and you know it has been stored correctly, they have special offers near dated film sometimes that are even cheaper.

    B&H Says Discontinued

Very true, rumors do spread quickly. Perhaps B&H has listened too closely to those same rumors because if you look up Fuji Reala in 120 on their website it's listed as "Discontinued" which to me means, well, discontinued. Fuji doesn't seem to respond to emails, nor do they actively participate in the APUG supporter forum.

    Rumors are all we got.

Pro 160S and 160C have the same resolution, with slightly finer grain (according to Fuji)

In any case, I agree they're not the same, Pro 160S is nicer, and Reala makes a beautiful cross processed image.

It's not the grain or resolution, but the colour palate and contrast that's different.
