Replacement for ESJ lamp
I have a Meopta Opemus 6 with the Color 4-ES head. It needs an ESJ lamp, and that's pretty hard to find in Singapore. I believe the specifications are 82V/85W.
Is it possible to replace this lamp with a household one, say 12V, 50W? What are the possible consequences?
Thanks!

NO! The color temperature of a household bulb will not begin to match halogen lamps. The wattage is critical to performance.
My experience has been to forget the ESJ and ask you photo supplier for an 82V/85W halogen. They are pretty common and many (My Beselers) use them.

B A N G ! ! !
Seriously: feed a 12 volt lamp with 82 volts and it will most likely burn out immediately. The Meopta lamp is widely available in the US and europe so you should be able to find someplace that will ship to Singapore. Do a Google search on: ESJ 82V.
Good luck

Thank you. I will try to get the ESJ bulbs online then. Local stores here are asking S$60 each.

Just another quick question. The seller I bought an ESJ lamp from sent me an EVW, 250W 82V by mistake. He is sending me the correct lamp.
Will this EVW lamp work in place of the ESJ? Also, if they are rated much higher at 250W, why are they priced lower compared with the ESJ lamps (~US$10 less)?
