After 4 years without a wet darkroom, I made my first print last night.
i was using a Omega D5500 and Ilford chemicals and paper.
I mixed the chems using room temp distilled water and I didnt bother looking at the temp. it took me quite some time to get everything cleaned and setup to print. So I did not have much of time and energy left to print. But now that i have everything in its place, the next session will start much faster.
Results? I was very pleased with the results. Attached is a scan of the print. This was a straight print, though it could have used some dodging. Original neg was a 4x5 taken with a Busch Pressman and a Xenar 150mm. (I no longer have these) Ilford FP4+ at ISO 100
Technology is not a panacea. It alone will not move your art forward. Only through developing your own aesthetic - free from the tools that create it - can you find new dimension to your work.
Congrats on the new darkroom...or welcome back to the dark side.
I just set up my 1st darkroom in 23 years a few days ago. No prints yet,
waiting for an order from Freestyle. Then the fun begins.
