I typically contact print, and now most often shoot 5x7, 6.5 x 8.5 or 5x12. So I voted "smaller". But when enlarging from 35mm/120, I usually worked 11x14-ish, sometimes going as big as 12x18/16x20.

11x14 I would do 16x20 but I do not have the trays. I could do 20x24 but the space would be tight in my wet darkroom.

I voted 11x14 because I usually print on 9.5x12 paper, although I always print the image smaller than the actual paper size. I take it that's you meant -- actual paper size used when printing?

The largest size I could print would be 11x14 anyway, due to limitations of tray sizes and wet darkroom space.

    Ralph,

Let me first say, that I have enjoyed your posts. But I think that you need to add a part to your list 'contact prints'. I work as big as 11x14 and as small as 2 1/4 in my work. So my vote is all of the above.

I've been meaning to start a thread about print size too. The reason has to do with the all too forceful pressure to make larger, and larger prints to satisfy a current gallery imperative. (It also seems to help if your 'graph is in desaturated color and has a strong ironic element that's hard to miss.) I favor square prints on 11x14 paper (I responded to the poll, btw), so my most typical work is 10x10 inches.

I'm not sure why you're taking this census, but I will be curious to see the ultimate outcome.

I make all sizes, but my print washer will only handle 11X14, so that's my normal max. If I need larger, I have to wash them in the sink. Only do that when really necessary.

11x14 is the largest print size my small darkroom can handle. I like the size and only for a few images do I sometimes wish I could make a 16x20.

My film prints are almost exclusivly 8x10 except for a few 11x14's I did in class. I bought a four blade easel on ebay, so I'll be able to do anything up to 11x14 in a few weeks (hopefully). I used to print 8x12's back when I had the kind of camera that we dont speak of (because I like the 2:3 format), but I sold it to help pay for darkroom stuff

I'm not very fond of 8x10 paper. I usually print on 5x7 or 11x14, both usually cut to the size of the negative rather than cropping.

Typical for me is whatever will fit onto 11x14 paper.

For 35, I usually make them 8x12 full frame, and sometimes right up to the edge at 9x13.5.
