    stradibarrius:

As long as your 6x4.5 negatives are in strips of at least two, you don't need a mask - just crop the image to one negative.

Can you remind us what enlarger you have?

If you have a Beseler or Omega, it shouldn't be hard to find the negative carrier on eBay. Until then, the mask ought to work, but I suspect that you will get tired of aligning everything.

My enlarger is a "Burleigh Brooks 670". I can't find any real information on the internet about this enlarger.

A couple of small pieces of black paper or mat board will do. Mask down either side leaving a 4.5cm aperture in the middle of the 6x7 cm opening. Just tape it down to the top surface of the carrier and you're done.

For quick and nasty yes, but masking will improve the contrast of the image by excluding nonessential light from the optical path. Especially true with older lenses.

As mentioned stiff black paper makes a good mask, cut one out and tape it on to your neg holder and your off. I did this with a Devere 5x4 neg holder fitted with a black card mask to print 6x6 until I found the correct insert and it did a good job.
