70mm reels at Central Camera chicago

I have no connection to Central Camera but went in there yesterday for some fixer, and eye balled on my way in and out a couple of HEWES 70mm reels floating around. Not sure if anyone has the large (10" in think) diameter tanks to use these, but i guess they are not that common any more.
Maybe they will let them go for cheap?

Somewhat off topic, but did Hewes even make tanks for those reels? I have their long-roll 35mm reels and I was under the impression that there were never any Hewes-made tanks for those. They just miss fitting in the Nikor 70mm tanks, so I would think they would probably fit fine in whatever tank was intended for the Hewes 70mm reels.

I cannot say, as i have never seen such a tank my self. You might be correct about the nikor tanks. We have some Jobo tanks that can be modified to be used with this reel, but i think it would be more of a hassle then anything else.

They were also having a 20% sale on used Leica stuff through January. Was eyeing a sweet 50mm DR Summicron. Maybe I could fit it on my Spotmatic.

Also spotted some brand new 2501 jobo reels (for the 2505 loader system) long discontinued stuff. Someone should go and grab them.

The Hewes 70 reels never had tanks for them. That's what Hewes told me years ago. They were for dip & dunk lines. I have two of them and I made a tank for them out of an Omega daylight print tank. Photos here:

I have developed numerous rolls of 120 on a lift rod using 4x5 tank. This should work in similar manner. Lift 1/2 width of film rotate 1/2 turn, reverse 1/2 turn, place back down. Repeat one time and it becomes a single agitation cycle. Any tray should work in the dark naturally.
