The word "wimps" crossed my mind.

I just moved my durst l184 up the stairs. The spec sheet says 600 pounds with the head. The chasis alone weighs 343 pounds.

Pardon the question, but what do you mean abou the base not diassembling?

Once you remove the column from the base of a D138, it's only a couple inches tall by (roughly) 2ft x 2ft, unless you're talking about the base-board assembly, and in that case, there is no good solution. Still, the whole thing could be packed into a 3ft x 3ft by 2ft space (as it is in my office), when broken down.

I finally got my scavenged one disassembled, and figured which screws, etc, need to be replaced.

That being said, once assembled, it is large, but broken into sections, it's actually not that heavy to move. If you've ever carried firewood for the stove, or thrown hay bales, the Durst is a piker.

I have a 138 and it is a great enlarger. I haven;t used it in a bout a year or so because of contact printing. I did need to replace the power switch unit and it ain't easy. Parts are next to impossible (in my experience) and repairs are harder to come by. I finally found a replacement by sheer luck. Durst, of course, has no parts or help to offer. These enlargers have been out of production too long. But when they work, they are the best.

There's only one place I know of to get Durst enlarger parts. http://durst-pro-usa.com They are great to work with. They sell refurbished durst 10x10 enlargers and stock parts for every other durst enlarger.
