hi pasto
when you removed the elements
was it just a barrel or were there elements inside the brass barrel ?
rapid rectallinaer lenses have the curved part of the lens cells facing OUT
( there is a diagram in the links i posted before ).
good luck !

There was no lens inside the barel, just the front and rear. And the groups are identical. Also, after looking at both groups carefully I can see there is some yellowing film on areas on the inside of the group. I suspect this is probably the adhesive for the two elements in each group. Yes John, I figured that the elements were both convex out from the diagrams I saw. I'll expose some 4x5 TMX tomorrow and see.....
Thanks,
Luigi

hi luigi
don't forget, its a RR so you can remove the front element
and get a longer focal length ( you loose about 1.75 stops )
i love RR lenses, soft and beautiful wide open, sharp as a cactus stopped all the way down.
have fun !

Ask Jim Galli, he probably has a couple of dozen of these in his cupboard and he is very helpful on these matters - His URL is http://tonopahpictures.0catch.com/
