Rodenstock Macro Sironar n 300mm F/5.6 MC
-Has any one had any experiences with this lens?
-I understand its optimized for Macro work. How does it perform out side of the macro range?
-At what focusing distance does this Macro Range start?
-At what focusing distance will there be an appreciable difference in macro abilities over other "normal" 300mm f/5.6 lens?
I cant seem to find a tun of info on this lens out there.
-
Not directly relevant, but here's a hint: http://www.rodenstock-photo.com/en/m...macro-sironar/
Did you mean barrel?

I had found that link, it seems like the information in that is a little vague. Also in addition to this lens being a diffrent focal length, it is also not labeld "APO"...by "tun" i mean a lot.

Ben, Rodenstock's use of "Apo" on taking lenses for out and about use (this includes Macro Sironars) is based on a controversial DIN standard that's been withdrawn. Apo-Macro-Sironar = Macro Sironar. Their recommended range of magnifications is 1:5 - 5:1. They're better in that range than plain (and Apo-) Sironar-Ns. Doesn't seem vague to me.
