    If you want a quirky lens, open it up to f8 or f7

    I assume you mean by some means like drilling it out.....got an example of what quirky looks like?

    The "choke" in the front cuts the lens to f14, in order to get a sharp picture. By opening up the "choke", your more open aperature starts to get bokeh or "swirlies. You can keep opening it up until you get the bokeh you want. Jim Galli has some pics posted made with meniscus lenses wide open.
