    Shutter Question - HELP

I have a Schneider 127mm Press-Xenar lens in a #0 copal (Linhof) shutter. The aperture blades are crossed or somehow unhinged. They open and close, but to not open all the way. One blade sticks out while fully open.

Here are my questions. Can I simply buy an old Graflex (Wollensak) shutter with a Optar lens attached? Can I screw the Press-Xenar into an old Graflex (Wollensak) shutter? Will the threads match? Do I have to worry about lens spacing or any other mounting issue? Will the Graflex (wollensak) shutter fit in my lensboard that held a copal #0?

Any help or information on mounting a Press-Xenar 127mm into a Graflex (Wollensak) shutter is greatly appreciated!

Send it in for a CLA, the aperture should be an easy fix for the technician.

You would be far better off to spend a small bit of money and have it CLA'd and work properly, mixing and matching of shutters and elements can cause spacing problems as well as aperture readings that are not true, Carol Flute? can do a CLA for a real reasonable price.

I'd get the shutter fixed because it's worth more then the lens. A #0 will take a 150mm G-claron if you find one in a barrel.

To answer your question. NO. The Schneider lens is all metric and the Optars and their ilk were all US threads. Nothing matches. You could however get lucky and find a Polaroid C4 CRT camera and it has a Copal 0 that would work fine. Investigate a repair with Carol Miller, Flutot's camera repair first.

To add a little to Jim's good advice: Copal, Compur, and Prontor should all be the same as long as it's the same size. But beware of pre-WWII shutters, nothing at all was standard until the late 1930's.

Thanks everyone. All good advice. I will get it CLA'd and look into the G-claron.
