Question on Linhof Universal Finder and Anatomical Grip

I'm looking for more help on my Technika.

#1 Why is there two sets of distance markings on the left [120-500] and right [90-360]? Is this anything to do with how far forward you pull out the bellows? Sorry if this is basic info.

#2 Is there a special cable release needed for the Anatomical Grip? I got a grip with the camera but no release.

1--90-360 refers to the focal length. I haven't seen one marked 120-500 as well, unless perhaps it's a 5x7" finder or a finder that was adapted for both 4x5 and 5x7.

2--Any cable release that's long enough and flexible enough should work, but a Linhof release (new or old) will click into the grip and will be held more securely in place.

Mine has the dual markings - it's the ones on the left for 5x7", on the right for 4x5".

Thanks David and David for your posts.

How long a cable release should I get?

I use a 20inch / 50cm release with mine (from top of plunger to end of tongue) and it is a bit long so something around 18inch/45cm should do the trick for most lenses and extension.
But remember the old golfing adage; 100% of putts that fall short don't go in the hole.....

One thing about my finder (probably yours too) - if you wear glasses, the top of a Kodak 35 mm film canister makes a handy eyecup and protects your specs (of course you have to cut your own hole in the middle!).
