Large Format resources

Hi Guys,

I am brand new to large format, just picked up a Cambo SC 4x5 view camera, and I need to learn everything about working with this camera. So far, my experience has been only with 35mm and medium format... so this is relatively new to me. Thankfully, I have 5 loaded holders from the previous owner to start with, but now I have to learn how to load and unload them. I thankfully have the bathroom at home which is light locked from the rest of the apartment for changing film out.

So my questoin... is there a website or manual or book or something I can pickup that will help me along the way? Ok thanks,

A couple of books come to mind:
Ansel Adams "The Camera (Photography, Book 1)"
Steve Simmons "Using The View Camera"
Leslie Stroebel "View Camera Technique"

Any of these will give you very clear examples on how to use your view camera... Then, you can do searches here on APUG for any specific questions you'll have- APUG'rs seem to have answered just about any question you can think of, so if you search for it you'll probably find it... And if you don't- just post your question!

4x5 seems to be the launching off point to larger & larger toys... have fun!

thanks guys... I was out tonight, and shot 1 frame for fun. I think I am getting the hang, just need to go slow, and remember to do everything in the correct order. I can't wait to see the results, but that will have to wait, as I have no chemicals, so I will be using Colourgenics in Toronto to process the film. I would love to learn to develop the black and white myself here at home, so I'll be looking into that.
