Screw head protruding from back of shutter

I bought a 90mm 1.8 fujinon SW in a seiko 0 shutter from an APUG member. No problem with the lens just this weird anomaly that is causing me some greif. There is a screw head protruding from the back of the shutter that will not screw in any further. It prevents the shutter from sitting flush with the lens board.

For those with this type of shutter it is directly below the V X M switch. Wish I could get a pic of it but my digital is in another town. It is definately not holding anything down so I do not know why it would be there. Can I just get rid of it?

That's the screw that's included with all new shutters. It either needs a notch in the lens board - in which case it prevents the shutter from rotating - or to be removed entirely. Unfortunately they have a nasty habit of being just about impossible to unscrew!

It is easy to come out. Can I just ditch it?

Cool. I finally get to use my 90. Got the sinar bag bellows today.

    Don't ditch it!

Keep it taped to the inside of the box the lens came in, or somewhere safe. You never know when you might want to use that lens with a keyed lens board ... or resell the lens.

I'd like to add one on some of my lenses. Would somebody be able to tell me which size is this screw ?

Take the lens to your local hardware store. Ask clerk to help you find the proper screw. It'll probably cost you all of three cents (US). Darned inflation!

    It's a special screw with a non-standard head.

    Good luck with that.

Maybe you could take it to a gun smith or watch repairman?
