    Need info on a lens

Here is a link to a lens on eBay.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Voigtlander-Koll...QQcmdZViewItem

Could someone tell me if it has a shutter? Just getting into LF and admittedly am ignorant. Looks like it but I'm not sure.
    Thank you

Yes, it is set in a Dialset Compur, so called because of the 'dial' at the top with which you set the shutter speed.

From the seond picture, it's a dial set Compur. I can't tell if there's a retaining ring or not - doesn't look like it though.

That's in a shutter - an old "dial-set" Compur shutter. Those shutters are actually quite good and reliable, and are easy to repair.

The lens itself should be very good - the Kollinear is one of the famous designs which may have been made to circumvent the Dagor patent. The coverage is a little less than the Dagor, but a 12mm should cover 4x5" with a bit of movements.

    Hello Chris,
Yes, the lens has a Compur shutter, speeds set by the black round wheel on the right, cocked by the lever on the bottom and tripped by the lever top left, top speed likely 1/50 or 1/100. Focal length is normal for the 3-1/4 x 4-1/4 format. It might cover 4x5 without movements.

Well, maybe it will cover 5x7 with minimal movements, stopped down to f/32.
In any case it will be a pretty lens, and useful - in a cheery, pictorial way - as a single cell
of 220 ish /f12.5 ish. Not soft, but even, smooth, but can't resolve pine needles at a quarter mile.
On a Crown Graphic, a pretty handy little outfit for the right photographer.

Ole is right, Voigtlander and Schneider made lenses on the Goerz principle but in a less efficient design. The results are the same, though (if a little less coverage). Great little lens.
