    Dick Whittington & his Cat

Being British and living in England means you know the true legend of Dick Whittington and his cat setting of for London because he thought the street were paved in Gold.

In truth Whittington Hall his grandfathers house was less than 10 miles away from where I lived, it's long gone but the "Whittington Inn" dates from 1512 and still serves very excellent beer

    But why is Dick Whittington important . . . . . .

He strove out all his possessions in a bag hanging from a stick over his shoulder -- what better way can you carry a 10x8 camera, tripod over shoulder

And he became Lord Mayor of London, so he probably had someone to carry his 10x8.

Come now Ian, you know very well that he didn’t buy a 10x8 until after he became Lord Mayor and had a big coach to carry it in.
    Regards Dave.

He didn’t have a cat of his own, at least not to start with. As a student Mayor he couldn’t afford the food bill. The cat in the tale is one he met whilst on his way home, at the end of his first semester, half way up Highgate Hill when he stopped for a rest. Anyone who, like me, has walked up this hill will appreciate the need for frequent rests. I must admit that I’ve never had a cat stop and talk to me during one of these respites; possible because the only cats I’ve seen on that road have been squashed ones.
    Regards Dave.

You do mean one of those, "don't give in to the temptation of buying another camera" coaches, right?

I think he meant the wheelie ones.

Indeed, I was refering to the wheelie or horse drawn type of coach. But Jerevan's type of 'coach' is probably also in order.
