Lens board help - Copal or Mount number?

Hi,

I'm looking for a front lens board for my recently won Sinar F2. A guy on ebay has one that says it's for "Copal 0." I look at lenses on keh.com and they say "Copal Bulb" (42 MOUNT). How am I to know if this is compatible?

the copal #0 shutter fits in a 35~36mm hole (approx 1-3/8 inch). The copal #1 shutter fits in a 42mm hole (approx 1-5/8 inch). The Syncho-Compur shutters normally fit in the same size hole as Copal#1.

Just comes from experience. I bought stuff and measured. I guess you can also kinda infer some of it by looking at lens mfgr's data sheets....see for example, http://www.schneideroptics.com. Look under info->vintage lens data-> large format lenses....one of the specs is usually the size of the hole that shutter fits in.

Thank you both. So, I figure that I need a Copal 1 for these lenses, 98% of the 210mm lenses say "Mount 42."

yes. practically all 210mm lenses (intended for 4x5) sit in a Copal #1 shutter...or the equivalent.

Many older 210mm lenses are in Compound #3 shutters, e.g. Xenar 210/4.5 and Angulon 210/6.8. Newer lenses tend to have smaller max apertures, and come in #1 shutters (e.g. 210/6.1 Xenar).

Brad, the Synchro Compur shutters were made in many sizes I have a 00 and a 0, the Synchro just indicates the flash sync.
