Yes price is higher, but so is precision. The camera along with the RM3d is designed to the much stricter than film, specification of digital photography. As film is much thicker than the digital capture plane(1 micron), it requires at least 4 times more accuracy of focus, than film ever did. So although pricier, you are getting more than you got for your money in a film design years ago. The dollars fall in value also plays into price.
I currently use the RM3d and it is so sharp and easy to focus. Yet I still love and get sharp prints with my Arca Swiss classic F-line in both 4x5 and 8x10. So both are viable, but the added sharpness of the RM series may be worth it.

Why 'Yikes'...it is still cheaper than a Canon 1Ds MkIV, much more flexible and many times higher in IQ ! And it only :o takes 5000 shots to fill 1TB.

    Ah so—
Yes! And what a sexy piece of machinery this pup looks!! And a digi-film hybrid. Very clever.
The novel shutter release cable dock and the honey-coloured handles are just two things to grab attention on first sight. It being a view camera has virtually turned the design on its ear with such sharp, narrow lines and a very small footprint. I'll go and have a perve at the pricetag...

    EDIT: Lemme see...€4,650.00 is... is... er...<tap, tap, tap, tap,tap> <gasp> ... $6,823.42 AUD.
Last time I was looking for something to do with six grand was to replace my geriatric car...

Makes quite interesting reading indeed, even as an avowed anti-digital.
