    Copal 3 Issue

I have a lens in a Black Copal 3 shutter. Everything on the shutter seems to work perfectly, except after you cock the shutter, the cocking leaver stays depressed (instead of springing back). I have just been moving it back with my finger before releasing the shutter (it will go back by its self if the shutter is released, but i don't know if that would introduce shake/ change the effective shutter speed). I guess my question is has any one had this issue, and if so do you remember how much repair was (ball park figure)?

Most likely old lube or the return spring has become discombobulated. In either case Flutot's or Ebel is getting "around" $50-$60 for a CLA.

I have seen this several times, it is exactly as John describes the return spring has become loose or come off. It won't affect the timing of the lens, but in your case and in one of mine as well, it snaps back with such force I was worried about vibration. Until I got around to having a CLA done I just returned the cocking lever manually and it worked just fine.

It is annoying, but very usable.
