4x5 plate holders hard to find. Why?

I bought a couple of MPP 5x4 plate holders a few years ago. I bought them by mistake thinking they were for film

When I recently bought a Sands & Hunter Exhibition (circa 1883) and it turned out to be a 5x4.

Americans can use their 4x5 holders in British 5x4 cameras, simply by rotating them by ninety degrees (with apologies to Roger Hicks who I stole that phrase from).
