    NY Daily News celebrates LF..

    Hi all,

While doing some work tonight and reading through the NY Daily News coverage of last night's game, I found the following:

    http://www.print2webcorp.com/news/ny...040628/p01.asp

This is a Daily News special celebrating 85 years of publication. Anybody think that Page 1 photo is somewhat familiar? I'm pretty sure that's the same stock 127mm Ektar on mine, although I can't seem to find the Kennedys on my lens!

Aside from the recognition factor, I think this is quite nice in acknowledging the pivotal role of Weegee and countless other photographers who made "You are There" journalism what it is. All it takes is your first experience with a 4x5 handheld to realize what an amazing amount of talent these guys had to get the grab shots they did, with almost no margin for error. Hats off.

    cheers,
    fil

Amazing what PS can do these days. One of the reasons I still shoot film; I want my images to be real.

I know I've seen a Big Bertha that once belonged to the _News_ in the window of one of the shops around town. Maybe it was FotoCare.

Fishkin Bros. in Perth Amboy, NJ has 3 or 4 Big Bertha cameras on display. I'd love to have one...

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

There are one or two at Lens and Repro as well, but the one I'm thinking of has, "Daily News" stenciled on the barrel.
