Graphic Back and Fresnel
Hi all,
I am building a 4x5 camera using parts from old cameras.
The back I am going to use is a Graphic Back but it only has ground glass and no fresnel.
I bought a fresnel glass to suit but not sure if I have to put it in front (towards lens) or at the back of ground glass.
Can some one please help?

Here is one brief discussion of Graphic backs and fresnels: http://graflex.org/articles/sanz-cervera/. Search this site for Graphic fresnel for many more discussions.

Thanks Jim.
I don’t know what I was thinking ...
The back was working fine so all I have to do is place the fresnel lens at the back (towards me) of ground glass, duhhhh.

Hello;
My 4 x 5 Super Graphic came with a fresnel installed. Fresnel first with the lens side towards the back, then the ground glass frosted side on top of the fresnel. I checked the film plane to make sure the film spacing was correct. You may have to adjust the film spacing, Steven.

Thanks Steven.
My Crown Graphic has the same setup as yours.
Yeah, my original question was a silly one because the light getting thru two media should be the same whether the fresnel lens is in front or at the back.
It's all good and now I am in my workshed ..
