I think of the Spotmatic and its lenses as being like the Datsun 510. Seemingly ordinary, but in the right hands, extraordinary.
I do use a digital device in my photographic pursuits when necessary.
When someone rags on me for using film, I use a middle digit, upraised.

I think of my Hasseblad, as a Jaguar. Sleek and sexy as hell...

I think of my Nikon F100, as a Corvette. Not a world class speed leader, but a nice everyday highway runner.

My Rollei 35 looks good but internals are at the level of Blues Brothers stunt police cars

But the Hasselblad also has a great reputation for reliability.

    That's putting it graciously.
And I was a big Jaguar fan as a teenager in the 70's. But I had to admit reality at some point. They weren't that well made, and reliability other than basic drive train was not good. They improved when Ford bought them later on. I hope they continue to improve with their new owner- Tata in India. Hey, being a sleek sexy car, maybe they'll become known as bodacious Tata's!

But no, over the years, not a good reputation for reliability.

So can I change my analogy then to a Rolls Royce Phantom? I've ridden in a modern version of that car... it was like pure buttah!

A hassy is more like an S Class Mercedes if you ask me. A mix of beauty, engineering, and functionality which combined creates a false sense of superiority.

I'll take my Yaschica-LM, the Impala of the camera world.

My Gowland/Calumet 4x5 Pocket View and my 1972 Super Beetle. Both pretty basic, but they got me where I wanted to go.
At least with LF landscape, a bad day of photography can still be a good day of exercise.
