    Any recommendations...

....pertaining to scanners and scanning software? I am going to be developing my first rolls of film this month and I need to invest in a scanning setup. I plan on shooting no larger than medium format, but I will be using 35mm for the most part. I am looking for something that will produce results acceptable for printing up to 8x10, 8x12, 10x10, and thereabouts. If it makes any difference, I will be shooting only b&w. I heard that I should avoid Canon scanners and that Epson's V series scanners do a great job. The most important point I should make a note of: I would like to keep my spending under $350 or so. Thanks in advance for any info provided!

Side note: I've heard mixed opinions regarding silverfast's software, anyone use it and/or have an opinion?

BTW: Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, I am brand new here.

Yep, you've posted it in the wrong section. In fact you've posted it in the entirely wrong website.

Yes. The recommendation is to get thee over to DPUG (link at top of page), and you will find your help there, as your questions are off-topic here.
I do use a digital device in my photographic pursuits when necessary.
When someone rags on me for using film, I use a middle digit, upraised.

Yeah, easy Tiger. A fairly new member here so I think it's a bit unfair to say that it's the "entirely wrong website".

We will overlook this transgression but once, after that you will be sacrificed on the alter of Bresson.

Don't worry - APUG and DPUG are sisters, and everyone knows how well all siblings get along .

A significant percentage of members on DPUG are members here. Hope your question gets answered.
