I kinda wonder how many people asked this seller the same question. I know I did. Today, I too received a very terse reply....Oh, well. Nobody ever said that being stupid (eg without-a-clue) was cheap.

I'm not going to venture a bid. Seems to me to be a quest for misadventure.

Hey, the seller isn't responding to me anymore! I'm jealous. Perhaps I shouldn't have pointed out that the 8x10 camera wasn't in as good shape as he was saying.

I can't see bidding on this. If it went cheap, I would love to play with the reflex camera, but shipping the big beast would be more than I would want to pay.

Well, with <24 hrs to go, he has 8 questions and only $55 bid. If it were a local pickup, it might end up being cheap. Who knows the condition of the reflex, though...

Ah, but not true. Until you hit the reserve price, you have no idea if it will be cheap or not. He could have a $2000 reserve on this stuff and you would never know.

Personally, I get the feeling the seller has no clue what is in the lot. He's selling it for someone else. Professional sellers on EBay are typicaly... not.

Default The Wacky thing I saw on EBAY today!

Okay, there are a lot of funny things that show up on eBay and other international auction services--strange apparatus, items at unrealistic prices, amusing descriptions, etc., and we can all get a laugh out of them.

At the same time ther have been a few complaints about these new threads cluttering up the "new messages" view, so what I'm going to propose is that we have one "sticky" thread for all such announcements. Please post "funny eBay" stuff in this thread, and I'll try to merge any new "funny eBay item" threads into this, and maybe some of the old ones if I can do it without making too much of a mess.

Okay, I merged a couple of old threads into this one, and it turns out that if I do that, the old threads get inserted in chronological order, so I've reposted my initial statement with the raison d'etre for this sticky thread at the top, and I don't think I'm going to merge any more of the old threads into this one, but new "wacky auction" threads will be merged.

The best ebay camera auction I ever saw was for "The World's Smallest TLR." It was actually a proctoscope. Had a viewing lens and a taking lens, hence the TLR. The seller made lots of comments about it being strictly as-is. He didn't test it.
