Okay, there are a lot of funny things that show up on eBay and other international auction services--strange apparatus, items at unrealistic prices, amusing descriptions, etc., and we can all get a laugh out of them.
At the same time ther have been a few complaints about these new threads cluttering up the "new messages" view, so what I'm going to propose is that we have one "sticky" thread for all such announcements. Please post "funny eBay" stuff in this thread, and I'll try to merge any new "funny eBay item" threads into this, and maybe some of the old ones if I can do it without making too much of a mess.
That'll teach me. Now my name will forever be stuck on this thread...
Sorry, Matt. I tried to be the first poster, but when I merged the earlier threads, they put themselves earlier than my first post. Alas, my moderaterly powers can only go so far...

And I thought Moderators were all powerful!
As I said, serves me right! I can live with the constant shame.
Okay, not a weird eBay item exactly, but I've listed three items on eBay in the last couple of weeks--a Canon FD lens, a Voigtlander Vitessa-L, and an 8x10" Sinar bellows, and they all went to South Korean bidders. What's up with that? Have they just discovered eBay?
No, South Koreans have been around for a while. But they do seem to have been a little averse to eBay. I sold a couple of 38/4.5 Biogons to a Korean in SC who was been buying tons of gear; I believe, can't prove, that he was reselling all he bought in Korea.
Japanese have acted much the same way. Have you noticed that there are a couple of japanese buyers, e.g., nipponia-nippon and ai.again, who buy quite a lot of, usually, high-end gear? I'm acquainted with those two; both are dealers whose web sites are in Japanese. I believe they're arbitraging between eBay and eBay-averse Japanese collectors.
A little on the expensive side, but definitely 'cute'
this Kennedy Industries view camera
It looks like something that belongs in the toy model world somehow. Would Satin Snow make new ground glasses for it as well? And look at the tiny film holder...now I start wondering, is there a Minox variety of this as well that takes minox film?
Norm
Notice the number of folks flocking to bid on it...
