Default Help wanted! Photography Teacher: Excellent Darkroom Skills!!

Moderator's note--Post announcements for analog photography jobs here!

Hard to believe, but in the "Education Job Market" listings in today's NY Times (May 14th) there is an ad for a photography teacher at the Dalton School in Manhattan for next academic year ('06-'07) that states: "HS and MS (5 yrs exp), Excellent Darkroom Skills". Not word one about Photoshop or d*****l anything!
I'm sure you'd prolly also have to be current though, but hey....you can still be employed teaching traditional skills.

If you're interested the ad says to contact: Ellen Stavitsky at Ellen_Stavitsky@Dalton.org

Looking I'm looking!

Grrrreaat to see. Glad academics recognise the importance of understanding traditional processes to lay a good foundation to becoming a photographer.

Hmmmm. Are there good coffee shops in Manhattan?

best John

Wish I had HS/MS teaching experience. Here's a link for those interested:

My fiance is in NYC right now and when I mentioned this ad to her, she said to apply.

Keep in mind, we just bought a house and I just had water lines installed for my darkroom.

The Dalton School is private. They will probably be willing to juggle a variety of credentials and qualifications if the candidate is appealing. Don't let the experience statement deter you from applying...the worst that can happen is that your application isn't considered. It's not as if there's a fee to be paid

I interviewed and was accepted to teach there twenty-two years ago, but the commute from my home at the time would have been two hours each way, so I declined. (A few years earlier, I had lived only four blocks away and would have loved to accept the offer if it had occured then.) They were rather aggressive about it though, and I had to be very firm about not accepting. When they want you...they really want you!!

To add to this job opening, I found out earlier today, that there will be an opening and a country wide search for an alternatives process teacher on the college level in my state. As soon as I know the particulars, I will post it here.
