I don't think it (http://www.photogizzmo.com/about.html) is. I'm pretty sure he's only been open a couple of years. Very friendly guy. Last year he let me fondle a used Ebony he had. Thankfully I didn't have the money to buy it. They sure are purdy.

You may be thinking of Lens and Repro (www.lensandrepro.com) on 17th St., which has been around for a long time.

PhotoGizzmo is a neat place. Louis Shu, the owner, used to run the LF department at Ken Hansen, I think. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. He doesn't have much of a web presence, so the gear isn't too picked over--lots of interesting items, but not cheap. I get the sense that his market is mainly studio photographers with deep pockets and no time to play eBay or shop the internet.

David - god, no. It was definitely way below houston. I lived around there for three years. So - I'd like to think I'd remember that. Little joint. off a park - or near one, ground level storefront - facing west. I'd never confuse Lens and Repro with the place I was thinking of. It might only have been short-lived, though. Small inventory - but great stuff.

I used to buy stuff at Hansen's all the time. That was a great little shop too.

There used to be a nice little shop around Wall Street, maybe "Wall Street Camera" or some such. I remember getting a great deal on some short dated TX 400/120 which I'm almost done with, shortly before they closed a couple of years ago. I remember seeing a really nice looking Focomat II enlarger in the middle of the store and regretting that I didn't have space for it.

"Wall Street Camera", as I remember, never came back after 9/11.

Okay - let's play NYC photo shop trivia..! (LOL) - but seriously - no no... that wasn't it at all. That place wasn't so great (wall street camera). I don't think it was down QUITE so far. And wall street camera's main storefront was south facing I think... didn't it wrap around the east corner a bit, too? This place was around 400 sq.ft. They had almost ONLY large format. I remember a double loaded display case (against the wall - no free-standing aisle cases) situation... and on the left side they had some cool 4x5 shift cambo-wide type cameras. One was made out of wood...! This was around '99 or so. I was just touring around google maps trying to find where it might have been - I'm actually thinking it was more like west SoHo... not SOOO far down... not south of chambers anyway... one of those things I guess...!

I'm quite sure David, I used go in there a lot to poke around but their web page disappeared just after 9/11 and I haven't been in the neighborhood since.

Heh. Well, I did buy a lot of it, and it's been frozen. I think I have about 10 rolls left.
