Default GR, MI Camera Store Question

Anyone in Grand Rapids, MI know what happened to The Camera Store at 1533 Wealthy St? (and the 'museum' contents inside!)

I went there a couple weeks ago & it was boarded up soon to become a sandwich shop.

It was formerly a real landmark. KB244 here had some connection with them but I haven't been able to contact Karl by PM, and I'm not particularly Instant Mess savvy.

Thanks

Murray

Check here, there is mention of relocating stock, but I couldn't find any reference to a new location. It does, however, include a "contact us" link, so maybe you can try that.

Also on the website of the link you provided, there's a link to the Southwest Michigan Council of Camera Clubs. I'll bet someone there knows something about The Camera Center and their museum pieces.

Hey Murray - Did you ever get your question answered?

I was a frequent visitor there and i speaking with the owner/operators they decided to move their retail operation to an online presence only. Quite simply, it was better business from their perspective to close-up shop and rent the space out.

Hey fmajor -

I guess they felt walk-in business was starting to Bb (bad joke - if I read the context of your username correctly - if not, it's not worth explaining).

I did hear from an ex-employee who had a different story, but there are always at least two sides of a story, right. I guess there is a disgruntled side and a gruntled side, but that seems to be an infrequently used term :O)

I have not gotten a reply to at least two inquiries left at their website many months ago, but it's a moot point now if they aren't there to visit. It was a cool place, and I still have stuff I bought there.
