Default Methuselah (tree)

Has anyone here actually seen the tree called Methuselah? Does anyone know where it is located or is it a National Park protected secret place?

Methuselah is located somewhere in the Schulman Grove. The exact tree is kept a secret for it's own safety. Here is a great site on the Bristlecone Pines: http://www.sonic.net/bristlecone/

Yup it's secret. Last pics I saw were by Muench in the Feb '08 issue of Outdoor Photographer. I've been up there and had a great time but didn't see it. But if you study Muench's shots you can probably locate it.

I used to know a geologist who knew where it was, and he would take people up there and tell them that they could see it without letting them know exactly which one was Methuselah.

There is something magic about knowing that a living tree that old is out there, I don't need to see it and probably won't try, I would like to go to the park though. I also read in my search of a Norway Spruce in Sweden that's supposedly 8,000 years old. That's hard to imagine. I heard about the Methuselah tree on a Science Channel program about time last night.

Curt these trees do need to be seen up close and personal, they are so full of character and wonderful abstract geometry. Here is a post of mine from hybridphoto.

From the Road Spotted Squirrel and Succulents. Santa Barbara, CA.

They are smarter than they look, a favorite of mine.

Keith you're right, it's on my have to go to place list. The photo's are terrific, the tree is otherworldly in its beauty.
