Road Trip: Southeast United States
I am thinking of escaping from the Fridgidaire that is Michigan in January for a few days, heading, for obvious reasons, south, but stopping short of Florida. Although the point of this trip is the journey and not the destination, I will be looking for good opportunities to make photographs along the way. What are your favorite places in that part of the country?

Blue Ridge Parkway. Especially the segment from Blowing Rock, NC, to the west. See http://www.nps.gov/blri/

Jekyll Island is a good stop along the coast as well as Savannah. Up in the northern part of East Tennessee into Kentucky theres an area called the Big South Fork where you can find sandstone arches. Check out Pickett State Park located there.

Stone Mountain Georgia.... Savannah for architecture...
-
Go to St. Louis then follow the big river south till you run out of film and/or gas and or money.

Another vote for Savannah.
Also, Vicksburg for civil war buffs - lots of history there.

I'd suggest a destination of Savanah &/or Charleston by way of Louisville, Knoxville and Asheville,NC. While in Savanah, stop by Jack Leigh Gallery.
