Yes, Stone stirs up us old pharts a bit. Which is a good thing, IMO.

I'm really glad for the young blood here. Otherwise, in another decade or so, Sean would have to set up a prostate forum just to get us to keep the other forums on topic!
I do use a digital device in my photographic pursuits when necessary.
When someone rags on me for using film, I use a middle digit, upraised.

It means that Stone has displayed the lowest of high-school mentality in his assumption of the size and shape of an unseen woman's bottom, along with an attempt to transfer ownership of the issue to "fat and ugly" women, who are insecure and jealous of the attention paid to attractive women. Now his friends are scrambling to redeem his honour and to dignify his comments. This is not possible. If Stone wants to prove that he is above Dinesh's assessment, he should make a full apology to members of this forum and to women in general for his revolting remarks and attitude. For my part, I am disgusted, and feel sorry for any woman who finds herself in front of his misogynistic lens.

    Are you listening, Stone?

I will be glad when I finally get well from this prostatitis that has made me a shut-in to a computer, instead of out there having fun and doing film photography. I am utterly annoyed at the political correctness and feigned offense on any particular internet page I visit. I get it on the TV, the computer, everywhere. I'm SICK of politically-correct thought police.

Or... Perhaps just trying to lighten things up in a thread that has drifted way off center line.

Personal maturity can't be taught, learned, shamed, or punished into existence. Nor can a perscription for it be written and pills taken to get it. No one is born with it. And some will pass on still without it.

By definition, there is one and only one possible avenue of acquisition. The passage of time. And the arrow of time cannot be rushed or short-circuited. It is what it is. So we learn to make the course corrections known, sometimes over and over, then wait patiently until suddenly one day the lesson is learned. Or not.

An interersting poll covering many options for street. Maybe we can get back on topic for this discussion.
I like that conversation on rangefinder forum better than this one we have on APUG. Less aggressive, no rude words to OP, more analytic...

Making "course corrections" does not mean doing nothing and hoping for the best, or indeed smiling indulgently.

When someone says something witless, misogynistic and deeply unpleasant, the way to "course correct" is to tell them what's wrong. Laughing and clapping simply reinforces the behaviour.

    Toffle has the right idea.

Well at least the OP has the heat taken off of him for a while.

My most juvenile thought is that the posters upset with my comment might only be feeling that way because they feel they represent the type of person I described and therefore are offended.

Secondly I shouldn't have said only women, as the same could be said for any gender who feels uncomfortable with themselves.

Thirdly, I will apologize if I offended anyone, but I won't apologize for what I said, just because you don't like what I said doesn't mean it isn't correct or that I should feel remorse. I don't like that you think in such limited terms that you can't open to the possibility that I might be correct in the majority of my statement, or that my opinion is just that, my opinion, and I have the right to view the world as I choose, just as you do.

Furthermore as I said earlier, no one said anything about the image posted of that slovenly dressed street image, yet someone might actually find that look appealing and might dress that way and why is it ok to judge that person and not have me judge the same way, that person in the photo is exactly the shape and size I described, so what's the differences? Simply that I used words to describe them instead of posting a picture.

You can hate me all you want, but I'm not actively attacking you for your beliefs, so who's really the one who's wronging whom?

And let photography itself from past eras lend testimony that people in general have become slovenly in attire and appearance in latter years. As for me, I never cared for photographing nudity, never sought the opportunity to do it, and wouldn't if I could. The only bone I might pick with Stone would be the photography of tattoos. A girl with a tattoo is the best cure for a Viagra overdose that I can think of.
I guess my point here is a repetition of an earlier post of mine in this thread. My kingdom for a time machine.
What an utter load of absolute tosh - and we wonder why so many women have image issues.
