    OK, simmered down a bit.....

I have to admit, I quite enjoy street photography. I enjoy images that are made on the street. I enjoy the work of a lot of the greats over the years. I would say, though, I am more of a fan of the Winogrands and Meyerwitz's of the world then say the Hank Carters (Cartier Bresson) and that annoying Bruce Gilden (often suprises me that he still has most of his teeth...). What I enjoy the most about the likes of Gary and Joel is that there was no hiding of what they were out there to do. They did it with a smile on their face and if things didn't work out, they just moved on.

This blog post is well and truly intrenched in my favourites:

The one I take the most from this is rule number 3 - keep smiling and this is exactly where I think that the OP in the first post went wrong. The mother was just doing what a lot of mothers do, protecting their family (how ever media influenced and misguided she may or may not have been). While I get it that if she had a problem she should have said something earlier, the fact of the matter is that she felt threatened. Instead of retorting, would it not have been better to show a level of humility - heck, even say "I'm Sorry"...... As for the comment about perverts having 1500 quid camera's....really? You tell me, what exactly does a perv look like, because the images I have seen of convicted Pedophiles over the last 10 years or so suggests that they start at the very top of society and work all the way down to the gutter.

Yes a nice forum, but they banned me in a month or so. When I joined them i was all digital and not a film devotee. I had shot film, tons of film, but it was 4 decades ago. Just getting back into film now with Widelux and
SWC. Rangefinder forum only wanted kiss-ass film devotees and did not like my non-film posts.

That is strange - I would expect that for example M8 / M9 user can post on rangefinder forum things about digital rangefinders; it is rangefinder forum, not exclusive analog forum like APUG. Well, anyhow - one forum to be active on is enough for me.

This thread has made it clear who I'd like to hang with. And who I wouldn't mind photographing falling down a set of stairs.

Just because you may have noticed certain behaviour in however many instances, doesn't mean it is correct.

... probably due to some fairly harsh editting by the mods.
