    My question anyways is unanswered.

andas long as you use non-words such as 'anyways', you won't get an answer. you wouldn't understand all them long words anyways.

Ralph, you now live in a state, as do I, where "all y'all" is an accepted form of address. Really?? Yes, apparently, "Really"!! Don't expect much.

The name of the thread isn't it too generalizing about film?
Wasn't it black and white first?
if film is rasist, then white is only, no black.
    But it never was.

Ah, I see! Which dictionary would define "andas"?

The article is worthless from the first word to the last. As has been shown, the difficulty with black people's skin is entirely a technical issue of not enough light photons bouncing off it. The author is race bating, pure and simple. What a wast of time.

True, incompetent photographers making exposure errors by not correctly compensating in calculating their exposures for black skin and how much it differs in tone from 18% Grey is nothing to do with the film or it's manufacturers and the article only goes to prove to me that racialism isn't only confined to Caucasians.

No, it's not a spoof, this is a real article from a real professor at a real university (the same at which I am doing my PhD on photography, but in a different department).

I don't feel qualified to engage into debates of racial biases in technology, but I am posting this as a service to those who wish to do so.

The original article that was linked by the OP is more of a personal piece of opinion. This academic article has at least a methodology worth criticizing.

Film or sensors do not recognise skin if the companies could have improved dynamic range they would have but they would have been looking for more sales not happier people.
It is difficult photographing people with different skin together or zebras, even in monochrome.
Using film since before it was hip.

Oh, a professor. A couple of George Orwell quotes come to mind:

"There are some ideas so wrong that only a very intelligent person could believe in them."

“What can you do, thought Winston, against the lunatic who is more intelligent than yourself, who gives your arguments a fair hearing and then simply persists in his lunacy?”

In general, we're only talking about one stop between typical caucasian skin and black skin. Even color slide film can handle that. There could be a question of hues the dyes in color film favor, but it's not an exposure issue.
