McDonalds is going to war with the OED over this. I'm not kidding. Yeah, that's a PR winner for them...

    Here's the story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6469707.stm

Won't make any difference to me, I have no interest in eating food kept luke warm for half an hour before I eat it which was cooked and prepared by 16 yr old part timers who are amazed at how clean the buns get their fingernails.

Yes; they are famously geniuses at PR. I heard one of their spokesment on Radio 4 a couple of days ago. In the background you could hear the quiet rustle of the BBC paying out all the rope he needed to hang himself, inch by inch, as he asked for it.

    Cheers,

    R.

Here we go again - "McProspects ... Over half of our executive team started in our resturants".

Very possibly true - would the PR "Spinners" lie?

But ... My first question would be: "In what capacity?" How many of those were truly "Hamburger McFlippers", and how many were assigned to the "Executive Training Program"? - or some other "Fast Track for the Chosen Ones" program?

A far more meaningful statistic would be the ratio of those who started at minimum wage and less than 20 hours per week - complete with mop, pail and headset; compared with the number of those who finally progressed to "Executive Status", (hopefully carrying with it a decent Executive Salary)."

I'd be willing to bet that data is buried DEEP in the McSecret Archlves".
    Carpe erratum!!

As is the case with many well-educated folk, Roger fails to understand two fundamental concepts of PR.

    1) "There is no such thing as bad publicity."

    2) Most folks are not "well-educated". All you want is name exposure!

What some may think is "paying out all the rope...." is actually "air time", and better yet "free air time".

After all, if McDonalds is so stupid at PR - why are they so successful?

They're not. They have been closing outlets over here.
