Mars, Greek God of war. Red speck in the sky.

For the longest time we have wished to journey there and record images of its surface.

Now today we stand proud of images captured there. Red, Browns, and yellows in dazzleing and amazeing photos.

But one thing is not clear, Have you ever seen a rock that looks like that? There seems something unatural about the images. How even the sky is reddish.

*Link Preface: I know this guy has alot of Whackjob theories and ideas but there are always grains of truth within the chaos.*

This is a rather interesting image. There is CLEARLY a diffrence between the two backgrounds as well as the complete shift in color for the targets to calibrate with. A rather interesting one at that.

    Another interesting position.

As we all know the initial moon landing was all faked and was really just recorded from a studio in Houston.

This appears to be the same thing only done with an red filter and shot in the Phoenix Arizona area.

    This is all very interesting.
Come to think of it, I've screwed up color images similarly in my darkroom for a LOT less money. Think they might take a ColorStar 3000 analyzer along with them on the next mission?

Considering the disdain we have around here for "things digital" there is a passage included in the "Color Calibration Paper" (towards the end) that suggest a way out of the color fidelity problem: Take images with a conventional camera on conventional color film -

    YAY!! APUG forever!!!

I guess I'll take a stab at a serious answer (hey, someone has to).

But one thing is not clear, Have you ever seen a rock that looks like that?
The last time I checked, nobody has (at least not human).

There seems something unatural about the images.
    Unnatural? No. Unearthly? Yes.

How even the sky is reddish.
What did he expect, blue skies and white clouds? The WHOLE PLANET IS RED!

This is a rather interesting image. There is CLEARLY a diffrence between the two backgrounds as well as the complete shift in color for the targets to calibrate with. A rather interesting one at that.
Look at the original NASA image:
    http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/galle...a/PIA05018.jpg

The white ring in the target is different in each image. To me, this implies that one or both images are uncalibrated. There is little atmosphere on Mars, so there should be no scattering of blue light at low Sun angles like here on Earth. The blue and green targets are easily visible in the original (perhaps now corrected by NASA?) image.

Of course, it would be easy to get such monochromatic, hostile scenery on any of the volcanoes in Hawaii.
