I hope you paid by credit card. File a claim. I understand what they said about date of manufacture vs date of sale, etc... but the equipment they sold you is faulty, not complete, and their repair has not provided you with either working or "like new" gear.
Good luck. Too bad this has turned into a very frustrating experience for you.
