Hasselblad split prism focusing screen center looks black?

    Hello

Recently I noticed the center (round) portion of my Hasselblad 501C/Ms focusing screen looks mostly black while I look through my PM5 prism finder. The center dot looks mostly black and depending on how I angle the camera, certain areas become clear.

Why is this happening? As far as I remember the center of the screen always looked clear in the past.

We have all been there done that.
Warning!! Handling a Hasselblad can be harmful to your financial well being!

Nothing beats a great piece of glass!

I leave the digital work for the urologists and proctologists.

You should be able to stop down to F8 and have a bright view of the prism. Just disengage DOF preview on the left side of the lens

Now if only one of your friends could get ahold of your camera for a few minutes and use a black marker on the split prism...
I do use a digital device in my photographic pursuits when necessary.
When someone rags on me for using film, I use a middle digit, upraised.
