Fuji GX680 II AA Battery Holder

I have the GX680 II with one still working Nicad pack and one that will no longer hold a charge. At one time the fellow that ran www.gx680.com had some information about converting these into AA battery holders, but that information is no longer on that site. Does anyone have some experience in either 1) Converting these themselves or 2) how to go about tracking one down? Any help would be appreciated.

    Peter,
I recently acquired a AA battery pack for my GX680 I camera. They can be purchased directly from Fuji USA (located in New Jersey) for about $75. A much better option than the nicad charger system.
    All the best,
    Daniel

Wow, thanks Daniel! I had no idea that Fuji actual made them for our 'older' models.

Careful with the battery pack and it's use in older models.

I have the battery pack and use it with the version 1 first iteration of the GX680, but I have to leave one AA out of the pack and bridge the missing battery to achieve the required voltage.

Fuji doesn't sell the battery holder now but here's a source for a good kit

I called Fuji a couple of years ago to order one of the AA battery holders for my GX680. The technician with whom I spoke told me that the holder was not available and had not been available for several months. Searching the web for GX680 today, I came across someone in Germany who makes what appears to be a good kit (AC/DC) for the GX680 I, II, and III. The link is http://www.gitarrenklinik.de/gx-680-battery-holder

I also ran across a firm in England which will refresh the NiCAD battery of hte GX680 for about $70 (that price is from about 2007). You may be able to find someone nearer you who refreshes NiCAD batteries.

I don't use my GX680 and I'm contemplating selling it. I just have too many cameras

I also just bought a GX 680 (Mk.1 I think), without battery, there seem a lot around like this now. The guy in german is asking a huge price (more than I paid for teh camera ..) for what is really very simple, and making a battery / power solution is easy enough for anyone reasonably handy I think, (and those who arent shouldnt try maybe .. ;-) ) so I think maybe the most important question is justWhich pin is the positive one ? .. (sorry those of us with no original battery to refer to need that info ;-) It would be really great if one of you that has a battery would be so kind as to pass on that detail. The rest we can fis ourselves ? Many thanks !

    Hello Tubenutdave,

the upper pin is negativ and the pin at the bottom ist positiv. In my battery holder I use only rechargeable AA batteries (1,2V each for a total of 7,2V- Thats the Voltage the Camera needs). But I´ve got a Question by myself:

On the side of the GX680 where the battery pack fits in is in the middle a little pin; it seems to be a kind of switch. I´ve got two battery packs: one with a hole so that the pin is not pressed down and the other one will press the switch down... does anybody knows what this pin is for???

    Hi CYA,

RE “The little middle pin” Which model GX680 do you have ? and does the battery pack without a hole run the camera ?

    Regards

This little pin is on my older GX 680 I Camera. Both battery packs run well (with and without the "hole").

    Hi

For what it is worth, my Mk.11 with the “little pin” only works with the pin in out position so my battery packs have slot for the pin to extend into.

    Regards

    Rob
