Is it possible to focus using either method with my Mamiya C220? I would love to use the camera on the street.
Yes. There should be a focusing scale for each lens on the side of the camera.
Taking pictures is easy. Making photographs is hard.
You will need tables for hyperfocal settings. None of the Mamiya TLRs lend themselves to precise scale focusing, but you should be fine with a medium to short lens.
I have some tables here: http://grahampatterson.home.comcast...._faq-10_9.html
I feel, therefore I photograph.
I made a DoF scale for my C330f using information I found on the net about hyperfocal distances etc. It's not that hard to do (IIRC).
Norman is an island.Time and tide wait for Norman.
Thanks. I will make the scale for my 80mm and 65 and see how they work.
Blighty After making the chart has it worked well??
Definitely, but you should know that
That's how I use my 6x17, well not quite true I focus by instinct, a gut feeling based I guess on experience. It works though every-time.

If you have the correct platform, I can highly recommend
http://www.dofmaster.com/ for making custom DOF dials that you can take into the field.
