Is this a fair price for a Leica M2?
I have a chance to buy an M2, CLA'd in February 2012 by Youxin Ye, with a spotless Canon Serenar 50/1.8 (black and chrome) with a B&W UV filter, front and rear caps, and the M adapter ring for $790, would everyone agree that this is a fair price? It'll be my first Leica and I don't want to make the wrong decision...
-
I should add that it's the lever rewind with self timer model of the camera, so a fairly late one if I understand correctly.
-
There is no way in hell I would sell my Leica M2, which has had a CLA, for a piddling $790.00 even without a lens.
I think you've found yourself a nice deal. Enjoy your new camera.

I am going to pull the trigger on it, then, I'm just waiting to hear back from my contact.
-
Yeah great deal! Well done. I've been noticing a drop in Leica M prices over the last few months. I'd say across the board prices have dropped around 20% at least. Now is a good time to buy ;-)

Yes, a great deal, unless the lens is majorly flawed..and this one sounds pretty nice. I paid $750 for a nice M2 body just a year ago. The Canon is worth around $200 or more, and the filter and adapter add another $35-50 to the value. You did good.
-
That price sounds reasonable.
I've also noticed an M price drop. I could buy a used M6 today for a bit less than I paid 7 years ago.
-
Lost the lens, but got the body for $650, given that it's just been CLA'd this year, it still seems like a pretty sweet deal. I have some LTM lenses I can use with it, all I need to do is buy an M/LTM adapter. Is there a preferred brand/best choice for M/LTM adapters? Or are they all roughly equal?
-
You can probably get a nice one from Stephen Gandy at CameraQuest.com.

I got a cheap LTM to M adapter on ebay from one of the Chinese sellers. Works fine.
