    Preset Lens

Was looking at lens today, saw one that looked like it had 2 f stop rings and identified as a preset lens. So far I have not found anything on google that explains this.

The aperture is not automatic, it is manual. You set the fstop on one ring, and the second allows you to view and focus wide open and then stop down to the "pre-set" f stop before tripping the shutter without having to look at the lens (or take the camera down from your eye.)

Thank you David I finally understand. For some reason, senior moment, I just could not wrap my head around that

No need to apologise. Every time I use one I have to remember how.
