Does anyone have any experience sending canon lenses in for repair? There are two places, one in NJ the other in CA. I am closer to CA, but will send it to the east coast if it is a better option. My 17-40l took a tumble today and is in pieces

LOL! Close! I was over in Santa Cruz knee deep in water all day. Ended up dropping it on my driveway when I got home

Brian, haven't sent lens in, but did send a camera in - it ended up going through the camera shop I had purchased it from. Would like to hear how this works out for you, I have a 20-35 that is in need of some repair. If I find anything out, will let you know.

Just a quick update. Lens was shipped to Canon on 1/2/04, they mailed me an estimate for $165 (not bad!) which I returned the next day. They Charged my credit card on the 28th. Now I'm just waiting for the ups man to deliver it It's been a month, I miss my baby hehe.

Wouldn't you know it. Lens arrived last night after my post. Good as new, if not better!

I haven't used Canon factory repair for years, but when I have it was great. They bring the whole camera or lens up to spec, whatever the complaint.

They did an excellent job. The lens came back completely remanufactured. New focus mechanism, plastic cover, elements cleaned, etc. Well worth the wait.
